Cows and Te Uku Wind Farm

Raglan, which was in our travels recently we stopped after an hour or so of driving to get out and stretch our legs. This farm along the main road into the town had some curious cows out the front near the fence. This one came up to us and had a good look at the car and what we were doing.

Behind the farm on the horizon in the distance was this wind farm in Te Uku. Consisting of 28 turbines it was built in March 2008 costing $200 million NZD and covering 200 hectares. It's owned by Meridian Energy and WEL Networks. It's controlled from our capital Wellington and was officially opened by the Prime Minister in 2011.

Linking up with Our World Tuesday :-)

It seems wind farms are becoming a feature on many landscapes.

An interesting (and lovely) place for a break on a roadtrip! Some of my best pictures on our travels are from short stops like this one.

I like your companion during the stop. A furry face and a wind farm beats lots of obnoxious places I've stopped in.

Count on cows to be curious!

Cows are quite curious so they will do that sort of thing. It sort of amazes me at the cost of the turbine farm.
